It might shock the motherboard and the battery will start charging. Instead of replacing just the DC jack which requires soldering I suggest replacing the entire DC jack board.
I found the guide to be excellent. Maybe the battery is bad and shorting the system. Is there a board or chip or something that I can buy and replace? I saw the pictures of how to take apart the laptop, I removed the screw for the dvd rw and it just wont slide out of the computer, not sure if have to take apart the whole assembly to remove the dvd drive, i unscrewed it, but still it wont come out.

Someone gave me a F after replacing the motherboard and from what I can see, this wire is missing. My f, when the on button is pushed, lights up a few blue leds for a second, then they turn off.
